In her West End debut, Keira Knightley is turning out to be quite the good luck charm for The Misanthrope. According to a report in London's Daily Mail, the production has taken in a whopping £1million in just four days. According to the report, this kind of number for a straight play is something the West End has never seen before.
Is it really due to Knightley's international star power? After all, she is joined in the production by stage vets Damian Lewis, TAra Fitzgerald, Dominic Rowan and Tim McMullan in Martin Crimp's blistering version of Molière's greatest comedy. Yet, it may just very well be, as reportedly until this week there was not an ad to be found advertising the play.
