This year's international Arlyn Award for Outstanding Design in Puppet Theatre is being presented to Jonathan Storey, for his production "Jack Pratchard." The award ceremony will take place on 7th July 2012 at Little Angel Theatre's summer party.

The Arlyn Award, a world-wide search for excellence in puppet theatre design, consists of a trophy and a cash prize of US$1000.00. Jonathan Storey was Little Angel Theatre's first ever Artistic Associate in 2011, and performed "Jack Pratchard" at the theatre last year. He is currently performing in Little Angel's production of "The Ugly Duckling" (until 8th July).

The three member, independent jury commented: "Jack Pratchard is an original, innovative concept with an effective, unified design. This very "black" tale is made less confronting by the use of the two-dimensional figures. The dynamic movement of both characters and clever scenic elements is very effective. Framing, composition, and use of scale are delightful. Very exciting!"

The Arlyn Award was created in 1991 in the memory of Arlyn Coad, co-founder and artistic director of Coad Canada Puppets. Any puppeteer, anywhere in the world is eligible to enter. http://arlynaward.org
