Jessie Cave to Star in MARY ROSE at Riverside Studios, March 28 - April 28

Harry-Potter-20010101

A visually stunning production of the classic ghost story by Peter Pan author J. M. Barrie, Mary Rose will feature Harry Potter actress Jessie Cave in the title role.

This beautifully haunting production, directed by Matthew Parker and featuring original music composed by Maria Haik Escudero and performed live, plays a five-week season at Studio 3, Riverside Studios, from Wednesday March 28 - Saturday April 28.

In a Sussex manor house a ghost keeps watch, yearning for the return of her beloved boy. In the whispering waters surrounding the Hebrides, spirits keep vigil over a mysterious island.

Mary Rose is a supernatural story of love, lost innocence and the parallel world where our departed ones are still present, just beyond reach. DogOrange is proud to present an exciting and eerily beautiful feast for the eyes and ears.

The ensemble cast of 16, including a chorus of eight spirits, features Joanna Watt, Charlie Kerson, Nicholas Hoad, Phil Bishop, Alec Gray, Sally Preston, Philippa George, Ariel Harrison and Maya Thomas, with more to be announced.

Jessie Cave played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2. In 2009 she made her West End debut, playing Thomasina in a revival of Tom Stoppard's Arcadia at the Duke of York's Theatre. In 2011 she won an Off-West End stage award for her performance in Lou Ramsden's Breed at Theatre 503 and created www.pindippy.com, a home for her comedy sketches and illustrations. She can next be seen in series 2 of Simon Amstell's Grandma's House for BBC and in Mike Newell's film adaptation of Great Expectations, playing Biddy. Her one-woman show Bookworm hits Edinburgh Festival this summer.

Mary Rose premiered on stage in London in 1910, when it was seen by a young?Alfred Hitchcock. Years later, as a critically acclaimed movie director, he asked Jay Presson Allen to write a screenplay after she finished the script for Hitchcock's 1964 hit, Marnie. But he was under contract to Universal Pictures, who chose not to film it.

Mia Farrow played the title role on Broadway in the 1970s.

DogOrange Theatre was formed in 2009 by Director Matthew Parker to present imaginative retellings of classic stories and flights of fancy. DogOrange’s debut production was Matthew’s own adaptation of the Chekhov short story Ward No.6 which played at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2009 garnering 4-star reviews and a Best Ensemble nomination at The Stage Awards for Acting Excellence.

Mary?Rose is suitable for ages 11+
