JESUS - THE WASTED YEARS Performs At The Old Red Lion Theatre Beginning 5/26

Bowman Productions presents JESUS - THE WASTED YEARS By Robert Meakin. The show performs at The Old Red Lion Theatre Tuesday, May 26th through Saturday, June 13th. There will be a press night on Thursday, May 28th.

Welcome to Heaven, The Home of the Ultimate Dysfunctional Family. We've been at home with The Osbournes, we've witnessed strife in the House of Windsor, now its time to step into the House of God.

It's more than 2,000 years since the crucifixion and these are troubled times in the kingdom of Heaven. All-too-fond of turning water into wine and dating female celebrities, a disillusioned Jesus reckons God's past it. After God's disastrous debut on Sky News and the re-emergence of old foe Satan, relations between father and son reach a new low - but then the Virgin Mary makes a surprise return into their lives. Suddenly God's in love and Jesus is left facing a very uncertain future.

JESUS - THE WASTED YEARS transposes the pressures of celebrity, loss of power and the disintegration of relationships onto the most famous family of all time. What happens to a powerful family when it loses touch with its people and discovers that their subjects think they can manage very well without them?

The play is directed by Andrew Neil and stars : Helen Bang, Ariadne Blakey, Iain Dootson, Ryan Hurst, Tova Levy, Robert Meakin & Andrew Neil.

Robert Meakin ‘s previous plays include Me & Michael and Before Bristol at the Old Red Lion, and Death, Sex and Room Service at the Pentameters, Hampstead. Robert was the writer of the recent mini-series, Rover, on the MySpace comedy channel and co-wrote QI News, the spin-off of the hit BBC show QI, for ComedyBox. A stand-up comedian, Robert is the regular compere at The Backstage Comedy Club in Leicester Square.

JESUS - THE WASTED YEARS performs at The Old Red Lion Theatre (418 St John Street, London EC1V 4NJ) Tuesday, May 26th through Saturday June 13th. Performances are at 7.30pm, with no shows on Mondays. The show will run 80 minutes, with no interval. Tickets are £13/£11 concs and may be purchased by calling 020 7837 7816.
