Iris Theatre's Dramatic Verse Workin Process 2 at St Paul's Church on June 9

On June 9^th Iris Theatre will present the second instalment of their search for new, creative talent at St. Paul's Church, Covent Garden. Following the success of Workin Process 1 in March, which showcased some of the greatest new musical theatre writing in the UK, the company will perform a selection of exciting new pieces of dramatic verse from emerging writers.

In preparation for this event, artistic director Daniel Winder invited writers to submit poetry, verse drama and slam poems for performance. More than 250 pieces were put forward and the best 15 will be performed in Covent Garden, promenading round the stunning ground of St Paul's, The Actors' Church. The 16 selected writers include award winning playwrights and poets and the pieces to be performed include monologues, verse plays and slam poems. The evening includes work from: Luke Wright, Melanie Penycate, FrEddie Mills, Ashby McGowan, Kent de Pinto, Annette Brook, Sophie Reynolds, Alex Jones, James Kenward, Katrina Naomi, Rachael Battistini, Joshua Idehen and Andrew Sherlock.

Daniel Winder says of the production, "There is such an immense amount of untapped talent out there today, but too much of it never gets performed or even considered, so this kind of event is incredibly important for the discovery of tomorrow's writing talents." Audiences may well get the chance to discover tomorrow's Shakespeare, the Goethe of the 21st Century, or the next TS Eliot in a funny, thought provoking and alfresco evening of verse !
