EXAM - A New Stage Adaptation of the Cult Psychological Brit Thriller Opens in Manchester, Sep 2012

Vertigo Theatre Productions are one of Manchester's premiere fringe theatre companies, with hit original shows such as 'M', Rage, Christmas Sorority Massacre, Numb, cLOOless and the award nominated OUT! as well as premiering major Off Broadway shows in the UK such as Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead (re opening this year) Psycho Beach Party and their critically acclaimed production of Die, Mommie, Die! (Soon to be opening in London).

Now Vertigo have opened a new off shoot company called Gen-X Theatre productions that is dedicated to bringing edgier and more diverse work to the stage. The off shoot company is owned by Vertigo but run by 2 of the Vertigo founders Craig Hepworth and Karl Burge as well as Richard Allen and Stuart Reeve and will premiere their debut play this coming September at the Three Minute Theatre. The first play is the UK Premiere stage version of 'EXAM' a psychological thriller based on the British film by Stuart Hazeldine.

Adapted to the stage by Gen-X the play will be directed by award nominated Craig Hepworth and first time director Richard Allen.

Eight talented candidates have reached the final stage of selection to join the ranks of a mysterious and powerful corporation. Entering a windowless room, an Invigilator gives them eighty minutes to answer one simple question. He outlines three rules they must obey or be disqualified: don't talk to him or the armed guard by the door, don't spoil their papers and don't leave the room. However with no question in front of them it soon becomes apparent that this test is going to be unlike anything they have experienced before, and with every one of them desperate to be chosen it's not long before the candidates begin to turn on each other.

An exciting psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end and have you on The Edge of your seats. Casting includes David Degiorgio, Haydn Holden, Adele Stanhope, Andrew Marsden, Ben Rigby, Natalie Perry, Emma Wilkinson, Stuart Reeve and Lily Dong.

Exam will play Sept 5th to the 8th at the Three Minute Theatre and tickets will be on sale from June 8th via Quaytickets. Craig Hepworth is a former musical theatre actor who now owns and is the artistic director of the popular Manchester Fringe Theatre company Vertigo Theatre Productions. The company have scored big hits with original plays written by him and his writing partner as well as producing, Directing and starring in the UK Premiere of Dog Sees God.
