Dinah Sheridan, Star of THE RAILWAY CHILDREN and More, Passes Away at 92

According to the Daily Mail, Dinah Sheridan, starring actress of The Railway Children, passed away today, November 25, 2012. She was 92.

Mother of Jenny Hanley (host of ITV's Magpie) and Sir Jeremy Hanley (Conservative Party chairman) and married to actor Jimmy Hanley, Sheridan began her stage career at the age of 12 as 'Wendy' in a tour of Peter Pan. As a teenager, her first film role was in Irish And Proud of It in 1938. In the '40s, she and her husband appeared together in Salute John Citizen, 29 Acacia Avenue and The Huggetts Abroad. She later appeared in the 1953 film Genevieve.

Sheridan followed her iconic role as the mother, 'Mrs. Waterbury', in the 1970 movie The Railway Children by roles in the sitcom Don't Wait Up and the comedy All Night Long in the '80s.
