Arlene Phillips Returns To The Stage With SACRED FLAME

Whatsonstage.com reports that Arlene Phillips, most famous for her choreography and directing work on shows such as SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER an STARLIGHT EXPRESS and for her recent stint on "Strickly Come Dancing," is directing and choreographing a new dance spectacle, SACRED FLAME, that will premiere at the O2 Arena on December 28th.  The show will star Marti Pellow.

Phillips announced the production at a press briefing held at the O2 Arena this morning.

SACRED FLAME showcases the story of Anton, a South American teenager who travels to Peru to understand why he parents gave him away as an infant. Former "Wet Wet Wet" singer Marti Pellow stars as the show's villain and lead singer, while "Lord of the Dance" composer, Ronan Hardiman, will "mastermind the infectious Latin rhythms.," according to whatsonstage.com.

Phillips additional stage credits include: Flashdance (2008 U.K. Tour), The Sound Of Music, Starlight Express, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, We Will Rock You, Matador, Time, RSC's production of A Clockwork Orange, Black Goes With Everything (The songs of Don Black), Anything Goes.  Says Phillips, quoted in whatsonstage.com, "For years now I have done two or three shows a year. I have always loved theatre and I will always do it."
