2013 IN PREVIEW: West End Stars' Theatre Tips, Part One!

We asked some of our favourite theatre stars for their top theatre tickets of 2013 - here's what they recommend you should go and see!

Victoria Hamilton-Barritt (Gypsy, Flashdance)

I'm most looking forward to seeing The Book of Mormon - I don't know too much about the show or listened to any of the music because I don't want to get a forced idea on what to expect. I'm also looking forward to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I can't imagine there are any theatregoers who aren't. I cant wait to see their ideas and what Sam Mendes does with the show - it's one of the favourites from my childhood so I will be bursting to see it.

I've heard how Once was beautifully put on in New York and with the music being very emotional and touching I know this show will be hot property, especially as a casting opportunity as I'm sure practically everyone and their wife will want to be cast in the show.

But more than any other show coming into town I can't wait to see A Chorus Line! I'm very excited to be a part of the company playing a great role in DiAna Morales. It's a classic from the 70s which hasn't been shown in London's West End for 37 years and I am nothing but excited for the show to be up and running after its long break!

Sabrina Aloueche (We Will Rock You, Les Miserables)

I'm most looking forward to The Book of Mormon and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

In terms of straight theatre Macbeth going to Trafalgar Studios (as it's my fave play) and anyone who hasn't already seen Twelfth Night (The Apollo) GET BOOKING! Mark Rylance's performance is epic and jump-in-your-seat delightful!

I'm a huge supporter of new writing in the West End and I'll be making sure I catch as many new shows as I can too. One to look out for is Lift, a new musical by Craig Adams and book by Ian Watson. It will be directed by Steven Paling and is playing at The Soho Theatre from Wednesday January 30.

Scott Garnham (Les Miserables - 2011 BWW:UK Award winner)

I'm sure I'm not alone in being incredibly excited about The Book of Mormon; I've followed the development of this show for the past couple of years and I cannot wait to see it in London...if I can get a ticket!

I'm also looking forward to the revival of The Pajama Game at Chichester starring the wonderfully talented (Sir) Hadley Fraser.

Finally I can't wait to see what the fringe theatres have to offer us in 2013, they are fast becoming our version of 'Off-Broadway' and they are some of the most creative platforms in London.
